The battle of "Azourout" stands as a monumental chapter in the history of the Rifian resistance against colonial occupation, led by the heroic figure Mohammed Ameziane. After establishing the "Ajnada Center" as a strategic base, the Rifian tribes—including Beni Boufrah, Beni Amart, and Beni Touzine—launched a formidable assault against Spanish forces in the early months of 1330 AH.

​The clash was intense, with the Spanish military deploying heavy artillery against the resilient resistance fighters. Throughout the battle, Ameziane moved among his men, drawing strength from the Quranic verse: "Be patient, endure, and stand firm, and fear Allah, that you may be successful". The confrontation ended in a resounding defeat for the Spanish forces, who suffered the loss of high-ranking officers and attempted to downplay the true scale of their casualties.

​Beyond Azourout, the resistance persisted through subsequent battles in locations like "Taourirt Hamed" and "Wadi Kert," eventually compelling the colonial authorities to shift their tactics toward establishing a "Fifth Column" of mercenaries to undermine the unity of the Rifian people from within.
​May Allah have mercy on the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to cleanse their homeland from the shame of colonial humiliation.
